Hotel Review: Star Hotel Jaksa, Jakarta – Indonesia

August 23, 2023 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Star Hotel Jaksa, Jakarta - Indonesia

Hotel Name: Star Hotel Jaksa.
Address: Kebon Sirih Barat Dalam I Gg. 7 No. 04, RW 02, Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Thamrin, Jakarta, Indonesia.

I stayed at Star Hotel Jaksa RedPartner in Jakarta, Indonesia. I booked it online at the rate of 163,421 IDR ($10.68 USD) per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Jakarta.

The hotel is off Jalan Jaksa, which was the backpacker street of Jakarta. I say was because the days of overland travel seem to be over, and very few backpackers come to Jakarta now. Despite this, the area around Jalan Jaksa is still one of the best areas to stay in Jakarta, and I still recommend it for first-time visitors to Jakarta.

The Star Hotel is a budget hotel that has joined the OYO budget hotel group. The hotel is now OYO 90660 Star Hotel Syariah. Yhey always add OYO + a number to the name, but for the purposes of this review I am sticking to the simpler name.

Star Hotel Jaksa

The hotel is in an alley directly off Jalan Jaksa, so it is not too difficult to find. I recommend marking on your Google Maps though, just to be sure.

I arrived during the day and there were two young guys at reception. After looking for my booking I was shown to my room.

I booked a Standard Room, which had a double bed with a window view.

The room was simply furnished, as you would expect from a budget hotel. There was a TV, which I wonder if people even use anymore? I would rather of had a desk and chair instead of a TV.

There is free wifi here, but my reception kept dropping out in my room. I found that I had to keep going down to the reception area to find the signal again, then I would have the signal for a while before it dropped out.

The room had a private bathroom, and it was ok apart from the shower which had a leaky hose.

The hotel is near some undeveloped land, so it is fairly quiet. This is a premium area though, and there are some modern luxury apartments nearby. I wouldn’t be surprised to find this area getting redeveloped.

Jalan Jaksa has some cheap local places to eat, and there are plenty of food options nearby. This area is ideal for being a tourist as you can get to Kota (Old Jakarta) by a bearby train station.

Overall this was an acceptable budget hotel room in Jakarta. The cheapest places are usually more run down, so this wasn’t too bad.

Book Star Hotel Jaksa RedPartner online or search for more hotels in Jakarta.
