Flight Review: EVA Air – Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) to Taipei (Taiwan)

Flight Review: EVA Air – Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) to Taipei (Taiwan)

Flight: EVA Air BR 392
From: Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) To: Taipei (TPE)

EVA Air is a Taiwanese airline based out of Taipei (TPE) airport. This was my first time to Taiwan, and by extension my first time flying with EVA Air.

EVA Air at SGN

EVA Air is a member of Star Alliance so I used United Miles for this flight. It cost me 20,000 points plus $20USD in taxes.

The flight time was three hours and was in a Boeing 777. The seat configuration in economy was 3-3-3.

Upon boarding there a was sticker on the door proclaiming Wi-Fi. I would normally get excited by that sticker but I kept my excitement at bay until I checked the prices.

Sky Wi-Fi - EVA Air

The WI-Fi fees are:

1 hour/11.95USD
3 hours/16.95USD
24 hours/21.95USD

Cool that it is available if you need it, but at those prices I wasn’t compelled to go online. I still enjoy the enforced offline time that comes with flying so I prefer to read, listen to music, or watch a movie.

EVA have inflight entertainment available which includes a USB option if you BYO entertainment. With only three hours flying time, by the time lunch was served and cleared up I didn’t bother with the entertainment.

Entertainment Unit: EVA Air

For lunch I picked the chicken noodle (I never pick the fish!) which came with a salad and fruit.

Overall I was happy with the flight. EVA Air often have deals from North America to Southeast Asia and I am considering doing another visit to Taiwan as a stopover to North America for the next time I go.
