Guesthouse Review: Tam Coc Tuan Minh Homestay, Ninh Binh – Vietnam

July 3, 2020 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Tam Coc Tuan Minh Homestay, Ninh Binh - Vietnam

Guesthouse Name: Tam Coc Tuan Minh Homestay
Address: Tam Coc Lake, 491C Road, Ninh Hai, Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh, Vietnam.

I stayed at Tam Coc Tuan Minh Homestay in Tam Coc, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 260,000 VND ($11.25 USD), and I booked it for its price and location.

Tam Coc is the small town that is the base for visiting the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex in Ninh Binh. Even though the scenic area is not far from the city of Ninh Binh, it’s better to stay at Tam Coc as it’s closer to the main sites.

Tam Coc isn’t a big town so it doesn’t matter too much where you stay. The lake is the central part of the town, and Tuan Minh Homestay is a 5-minute walk to the lake. I got a Grab taxi from Ninh Binh train station, which is about 6km away.

Tam Coc Tuan Minh Homestay

Tuan Minh Homestay is down a residential alley that has many other guesthouses. The Homestay is a family-run operation in a purpose-built property. You are not staying in a family home as such, but in a guesthouse run by a family that live on the property.

Reception

I booked a double room with a private bathroom. The room was just big enough for the double bed and some chairs at the end. The room was air conditioned, which was needed in the summer heat.

Room

The bed was comfortable, and there was a good wifi connection in the room.

Bed

The bathroom was clean and spacious, with a good hot water system.

Bathroom

There is a common area at the front where you can hang out. The home stay has bicycles, and you can rent scooters and arrange tours and transport.

Common area

There is a breakfast service which consists of the usual Vietnamese guesthouse breakfast of eggs and bread roll with a coffee. They also have an informal restaurant for dinner. The guesthouse is within walking distance of many traveller restaurants serving Vietnamese and Western food options.

Breakfast

Overall this was a good place to stay in Tam Coc for Ninh Binh. If you are just looking for a budget room then Tuan Minh Homestay is ideal.

Book the Tam Coc Tuan Minh Homestay online, or search for more hotels in Tam Coc (search under Ninh Binh).
