Hotel Review: Saigon River Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam

January 18, 2025 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Saigon River Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam

Hotel review of the Saigon River Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, a budget hotel by the riverside near Thao Dien metro station.

Hotel Name: Saigon River Hotel.
Address: 35/8, No 19 St, Binh An Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

I stayed at the Saigon River Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. I booked online at the rate of $12.97 USD, and I booked it for its price and location in Saigon.

The Saigon River Hotel is located near the Saigon River in Tuc Duc City, in the area formerly known as District 2. I usually recommend that people stay in District 1 if you are a first-time visitor, which I cover in my guide on where to stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

I was staying here out of curiosity, as the hotel is near the newly-opened HCMC Metro. The hotel is not far from a pedestrian bridge that connects to Thao Dien Station on Line 1. Thao Dien is a popular expat area, and I suspect in a few years there will be more hotels in this area.

The Saigon River Hotel is on a small street in an area filled with budget and short-time hotels.

The hotel has a corner position and is easy to find.

The reception area also doubles are a parking area for motorbikes.

I booked a Standard Rom, which had a double bed in a plain and sparsely furnished room. It was a comfortable bed and the room had a decent wifi reception.

The room had a window that faced the hallway, so it had external light but I couldn’t keep the curtains open due to people walking by.

The bathroom was clean and tidy.

I walked by a Triple Room which had corner windows, and the natural might made it look much nicer than my room with fluorescent lights.

Saigon River Hotel Twin Room

Overall this was a satisfactory room in a budget hotel. This is most useful if you want to stay somewhere near Thao Dien, otherwise I would stay in District 1.
