Mai Vy Guest House Review , Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam

July 26, 2017 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Mai Vy Guest House, Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam

Guesthouse Name: Mai Vy Guest House
Address: 241/12 Pham Ngu Lao, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

I stayed at the Mai Vy Guest House in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I booked it online for $12.78 USD for one night. This guesthouse is in the backpacker area of Saigon where you can still find cheap guesthouses in the $10-15 range. Mai Vy is in one of the many narrow lanes that connects the two mains roads of Pham Ngu Lau and Bui Vien.

Mai Vy Guest House, Ho Chi Minh City

The guesthouses here look like typical Vietnamese houses that are tall and skinny. I got a single room with a private bathroom. At such a discounted rate I guessed I was going to get a room without a window, and I guessed correctly.

The room had a double bed with a/c and fan. These windowless room usually have an extractor fan to keep the air circulating.

Bed

The bed was comfortable and there was a good bedside table with just enough room to leave bags on the side.

Room

The bathroom was in good condition with hot water available.

Bathroom

There is free wifi at the property and I had no problem accessing it. Sometimes these family-run guesthouses offer a basic breakfast, but this one doesn’t.

241 Pham Ngu Lau

Overall this was a decent budget guesthouse suitable for backpackers looking for a simple private room. Book the Mai Vy Guest House online, or search for more hotels in Saigon.

If this is your first time to the city read up on where to stay in Saigon first.

I’ve also stayed at Anh Dao and 96 Bui Vien, which are similar guesthouses in the backpacker area.
