Hotel Review: Hong Thien 1 Hotel, Hue – Vietnam

June 26, 2022 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Hong Thien 1 Hotel, Hue - Vietnam

Hotel Name: Hong Thien 1 Hotel.
Address: 37 Chu Văn An, Hue, Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam.

I stayed at the Hong Thien 1 Hotel in Hue, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 363,673 VND ($15.50 USD) per night, and I booked for its price and location in Hue. I booked a “Deluxe Double Pool View” room.

Chu Văn An is one of the main walking streets in the city area of Hue. The street pedestrian street at night on the weekends, and it is one of the main tourist hubs in Hue. It’s a good area to stay in Hue if you are visiting for a shot time.

Hong Thien 1 Hotel is down a small alley off Chu Văn An, so it is in a quiet area. I arrived by taxi from the train station as I had arrived in Hue by train from Da Nang. Cars can’t go into the alley so they will just drop you off at the entrance.

To Hong Thien 1 Hotel

The building front is a typical skinny Vietnamese house, though the building has an odd shape that take up more room behind the frontage. Also typical for a Vietnamese alley building is the front entrance doubling as motorbike parking.

Hong Thien 1 Hotel reception

My room looked more modern than the dated reception. My room was in the odd part of the building that stuck out from the main building, so I had windows on both sides of the room.

The bed was comfortable and the room was air-conditioned (a requirement during the summer months in Hue) but no fan, which I prefer to have at night. There is free wifi and I had a good reception in my room.

The bathroom was in good condition with decent hot water. The toilet area was a bit small, though at least there was enough room around the sink to place toiletries.

The hotel has a pool at the back of the building, and it was being used almost every time I checked. It is blazing hot in Hue in June, so I am not surprised this is a popular feature. The pool though is smaller than it appears on the websites, which I supposes you should always expect pools in budget hotels to be smaller than they appear online. I had a room on a high floor, but I guess I could see the pool if I looked hard enough out the window.

There is a dining area here but there was no breakfast service on offer at the time of my visit.

Overall this was a good budget hotel option in Hue. Check prices for the Hong Thien 1 Hotel or search for more hotels in Hue.

I wrote about my previous trip to Hue, and on that trip I stayed at the Lum Dong Tien Hotel.
