Hotel Review: WellnessInn Resort Ashvem Beach, North Goa – India

February 5, 2020 By James Clark

Hotel Review: WellnessInn Resort Ashvem Beach, North Goa - India

Hotel Name: Paradise Guest House.
Address: Ashvem Beach, Near Morjim, Mandrem, Goa, India.

I stayed at the WellnessInn in Ashvem Beach, Goa, India. I walked in off the street and paid 1000 INR ($13.80 USD) for a private room with a bathroom.

This was literally a last minute booking for me as I found myself at Ashvem Beach without a hotel reservation. I walked into the attached cafe, not knowing there was also a hotel. The cafe was so good that I asked if there was a room.

WellnessInn

The Wellness Inn is a hotel with a yoga and meditation centre. There was a new group checking in for a course when I arrived, so I was lucky enough to get one of the budget rooms as it was a busy day there.

WellnessInn lounge

My room had a double bed with a fan and A/C. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I got a weak wifi signal in my room so I had to sit in the common area to get a connection.

Room

The room was unusual in that it had an abundance of power outlets everywhere. Usually old rooms have one poorly-positioned outlet.

Partitioned Bathroom

The bathroom was clean and it had a good hot water system. Note the hybrid sit/squat toilet.

Bathroom

Behind the property is a forest, and I saw some pigs nearby.

Rear view

There is a water filtration unit for drinking water. This is something every hotel should do.

Water unit

They also have a great restaurant here with vegetarian food. I had lunch and breakfast here.

Dining and lounge

The hotel offers retreats (ayurveda, meditation, and yoga retreats) as well as training courses for yoga, ayur balance massage, and meditation teacher training.

Yoga sessions

The hotel is on the main road that runs alongside the beach. You walk outside the hotel and cross the road and you are at the beach. Ashvem Beach is a much smaller village and travel scene compared to Arambol (the next beach up). I get the impression that Ashvem is the sort of place you go if you want a quieter version of Arambol. The beach at Ashvem a beautiful stretch of sand, so I was happy to stay here for a day. To get a feel for the different beaches, here is my trip report on the beaches of North Goa.

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. Book the WellnessInn online or search for more hotels in Mandrem.
