Hotel Review: W 21 Hotel Bangkok – a Japanese-style mini hotel on Sukhumvit 21

July 31, 2025 By James Clark

Hotel Review: W 21 Hotel Bangkok

Hotel Name: W 21 HOTEL.
Address: 4/56 Asoke Road (Sukhumvit 21) Khlongtoei Nue, Wattana District, Bangkok, Thailand.

Hotel review of the W 21 Hotel Bangkok, a Japanese-style mini hotel near the Sukhumvit-Asok intersection.

I stayed at the W 21 Hotel in Bangkok. I booked online at the rate of 764.88 THB ($23.77 USD) per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Bangkok.

W 21 Hotel is on Asoke Road (or Sukhumvit 21 – thus the name), near the interchange of the Sukhumvit BTS and Asok MRT on the Bangkok transit system. This is one of the most central locations in Bangkok, which made this hotel a great deal, even for a budget hotel in this area.

[If you are new to Bangkok, here is my guide on where to stay in Bangkok.]

This hotel used to be Serene Asoke Suites, and this was the first time I had seen W 21 Hotel listed. I walked here from Asok MRT Station, which is only a few doors away.

There is a small lobby area in the reception.

My room type was “Economy Single Room”. The room looked small on the booking site, but I wasn’t sure of how it was going to be laid out. The room reminded me of a budget business hotel in Tokyo. It is a proper room, but it had capsule vibes.

Despite the room space, it didn’t feel cramped. The bed was comfortable and I had a good wifi reception in the room. The has air-con, which was required to run at all times.

The single bed is on a platform with some storage space under the bed. There was enough room to store my bag at the space at the end of the bed. The room also had a sliver of a window, which was enough to let you know if it was day or night outside. I checked for a window when I booked, because I thought the room might have been a modular capsule with no window.

The bathroom was more spacious than I would have guessed. The bathroom was the entire length of the room (not a corner), so there is enough room for the toilet at one end and the shower at the other.

The bathroom had a tiny sink, but apart from that, the bathroom felt clean and modern.

To add to the Japanese vibes, there is a 7-Eleven in the same building, so that was convenient to have such a convenient convenience store next door. The hotel is also around the corner from the infamous Soi Cowboy, though this bar bar street is self-contained and you won’t know its there. I was surprised that my room wasn’t noisy considering it is on a busy street.

Overall this is a good place to stay if you are on a small budget but you want to be in the middle of the action of Sukhumvit Road.

Book the W 21 Hotel online or search for more Bangkok hotels.

W 21 Hotel is around the corner from Ree House on Sukhumvit 23.
