Hotel Review: Starfruit Villa, Hoi An – Vietnam

November 29, 2020 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Starfruit Villa, Hoi An - Vietnam

Hotel Name: Starfruit Villa
Address: 26A Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Cam Pho, Hoi An, Vietnam

I stayed at Starfruit Villa in Hoi An. I booked online at the rate of $17.47 USD, and I booked it for the combination of price and location. There are so many places to stay in Hoi An, so using filters on booking sites helps narrow down the field.

The Starfruit Villa is in suburban Hoi An, so it’s outside the hubbub of the tourist crowds. Hoi An is a small city, so when I say suburb, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the old town, and about a 15-minute walk to the old town riverfront.

Being outside the old town means that the building can be a bit bigger.

Starfruit Villa

The Starfruit Villa is a family-run business. After a friendly welcome, I was checked into my room.

Reception

I booked a double room with a private bathroom. The room is more spacious than any budget guesthouse I’ve stayed at in Hoi An.

Starfruit Villa room

The bed was comfortable, and the room has a fan and air conditioning option.

Bed

The room has a safe and a fridge, and free drinking water is supplied. There is free wifi here, and I had a good connection in my room.

Room safe

The bathroom has a bathtub/shower combo, if bathing is your thing. The sink area had lots of space as well, and everything was in good and clean condition.

Bathroom

My room was facing the road and had a little balcony. It’s a quiet street so there wasn’t any problem with noise.

Balcony

The villa has a pool and there are more rooms out the back. It was cold and rainy when I was there so the pool was not tempting. It gets hot in Hoi An (as I found out on my previous visit), so having a pool is a bonus if you are here in the hot months.

Pool

Breakfast service is also provided here, and I had a banh mi and coffee delivered to my room. There is a kitchen downstairs next to the reception which you can use as well.

There are bicycles to rent here so you can explore the old town or surrounding rice fields. They can also help you wil onward travels or other travel advice.

Overall this was a great little homestay-style villa to stay at in Hoi An. If you don’t mind not being in the immediate centre of the old town then this is a good budget accommodation option.

Book the Starfruit Villa online or search for more hotels in Hoi An. If it’s your first visit, then read my guide on where to stay in Hoi An.

Other homestay accommodations I’ve stayed at include May’s House, The Family Hotel, and Tigon Homestay.
