Hotel Review: Star Lodge, Penang – Malaysia

April 6, 2016 By James Clark

Star Lodge, Penang – Malaysia

Hotel Name: Star Lodge
Address: 39 Lebuh Muntri, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia

I stayed at the Star Lodge in Georgetown Penang. I have stayed here before and have found it to be a reliable cheap guesthouse in Penang so I walked in off the street and booked a room.

The last time I was here I got a room with private bathroom. There were none available this time so this review is for the private room with shared bathroom. The rate was 38 MYR ($9.70 USD).

The guesthouse is centrally located on Lebuh Muntri, which is one street off Lebuh Chulia, via Love Lane; an area with a high concentration of backpacker lodgings. It’s easy to find as well – just look for the Little Girl in Blue mural.

I got a single bed and the room includes a desk and sink. The bed was comfortable though the room got hot and the fan was working overtime during my stay.

The shared bathroom was clean and bright.

Upstairs there is a common area, as well is in the front in the reception area.

Overall this is a decent guesthouse for backpackers on budget.

If you prefer to book a room in advance search for more hotels in Georgetown.
