Hotel Review: Star Lodge, Georgetown, Penang – Malaysia

February 10, 2015 By James Clark

Star Lodge, Georgetown, Penang – Malaysia

Hotel Name: Star Lodge
Address: 39 Lebuh Muntri, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia

I stayed at the Star Lodge in Georgetown, Penang. I walked in off the street and I paid 45 MYR ($12.50 USD) for a single room. This is one of the cheapest guesthouses in Penang that has room with bathroom so it is a pretty good deal. It’s a good location as well on Lebuh Muntri, which runs parallel to the main street in Georgetown (Lebuh Chulia). It is next door to the Little Girl in Blue mural.

The Star Lodge is guesthouse-style accommodation so the rooms are basic. All rooms come with windows, fan, sink, private toilet, and hot shower.

Single Room

The bathroom consists of a toilet with an instant electric hot water box.

Bathroom

There is no breakfast service here but they advertise a breakfast at the Western & Oriental Cafe, on the same street. There are drinks available for sale in reception, and lots of useful travel information.

Travel Information

The Star Lodge aren’t on hotel booking sites and don’t have a website. If you want to book it’s best to get there in the morning and reserve a room. You can also check out the 75 Traveller’s Lodge, which is part of the same guesthouse group (along with the W&O Cafe).

If you prefer to book a room in advance search for more hotels in Georgetown.
