Guesthouse Review: Soutikone1 Guesthouse, Luang Prabang – Laos

May 22, 2022 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Soutikone1 Guesthouse, Luang Prabang - Laos

Guesthouse Name: Soutikone1 Guesthouse.
Address: Ban Xiengmouane, Luang Prabang, Riverfront, Luang Prabang, Laos.

I stayed at Soutikone1 Guesthouse in Luang Prabang. I booked online at the rate of $11 USD per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Luang Prabang. The Soutikone1 Guesthouse is in an alley that runs down to the Mekong Delta. This is in the area outside the UNESCO area, but close enough to be able to walk to the best of the old town area. If you are looking for where to stay in Luang Prabang, then is a good of an area as any.

Note that not all the streets are marked and numbered, so it’s best to have the guesthouse marked on a map on your mobile device. The first time I came to Luang Prabang I just walked around the streets listed in Lonely Planet. I might have even stayed on this street, but the address didn’t matter at that point.

The Soutikone1 Guesthouse is in a lovely old wooden building with creaking floorboards. After checking in I was shown to my room. I got a double room with a view of the garden at the back of the property.

The room was a small and cozy space. The bed was comfortable and the room didn’t get hot (this was early rainy season in May). The guesthouse has wifi and I had a good reception in my room. There was a tiny desk which I didn’t bother working from.

The bathroom was the typical guesthouse type, with an instant hot water unit and toilet with bum gun.

My room had a little balcony area overlooking the garden.

There is some travel information in the reception area, and they can help you arrange tours and transport. I hired a bike while I was here, though that trip didn’t last long (read about that in my Notes on Luang Prabang article).

There is a balcony and common area at the from as well, though I forgot to take a photo of the area.

Overall this was a nice little guesthouse to stay at in Luang Prabang if you are looking for a cheap room.

Book the Soutikone1 Guesthouse online or search for more hotels in Luang Prabang.

I ended up extending my stay in Luang Prabang, so I stayed at another guesthouse after this, and here is my trip report for Luang Prabang.
