Hotel Review: S Box Sukhumvit Hotel, Bangkok – Thailand

January 2, 2020 By James Clark

Hotel Review: S Box Sukhumvit Hotel, Bangkok - Thailand

Hotel Name: S Box Sukhumvit Hotel
Address: 4 Sukhumvit 31, Bangkok, Thailand.

I stayed at the S Box Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok. I booked it for its location on Sukhumvit Road. The hotel is not far from the Asok/Sukhumvit MRT/BTS metro interchange, so it’s a central location for transport. This is one of my preferred locations to stay in Bangkok, and I usually stay around here if I’m only in Bangkok for a quick trip.

When booking hotels on Sukhumvit Road it’s important to see if the soi (street) is close to a BTS (as Soi 31 is), and also to make sure the hotel isn’t too far down the soi. In this case the hotel was close to the Sukhumvit Road entrance.

S Box Sukhumvit Hotel, Bangkok

The S Box Sukhumvit Hotel is a mid-range 3-star hotel, offering modern compact hotel rooms at a budget rate. There is a 24-hour reception, and a parking bay where they can call a taxi for you.

Room entrance

I got a double room with private bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and I made sure my room had a window.

Bed

The room was small, but everything was designed to maximise space with purpose-built shelves and under-bed space.

TV

There is a safe under the bed, and this bedside table has been designed to be practical and not take up floor space. There is free wifi here, and I had a good connection in my room.

Safe

Free water, and tea and coffee making facilities.

Water

The trend in small hotel rooms has been for the glass box bathrooms. This is ok when you are travelling by yourself, but can be problematic when sharing a room. The best solution I’ve seen for this issue was at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, where at the flick of a switch the glass becomes opaque. Here they have gone with a low-tech but effective enough solution of using a shower curtain.

Bed and bath

The bathroom was also small, but again there is enough space for everything.

Bathroom

There is a basic breakfast buffet consisting of toast and pastries, eggs, fruit, and tea and coffee.

Breakfast

Overall this was a great place to stay in Bangkok. The combination of location and a modern budget room made this a good stay. Book the S Box Sukhumvit Hotel online or search for more Bangkok hotels.
