The Airport Express Bus has limited stops between the airport and city centre.

If you are staying in the riverside area, the Canadia Park bus stop is the most useful stop.

If you are staying in the BKK1 area, the Royal University Of Law And Economic Sciences bus stop is closer.

The final stop is at the Kouch Cannon Roundabout Bus Station (Phnom Penh City Bus Terminal), near the Embassy of France. There are not as many hotels around here, thus the Canadia Park stop will be the most useful (though check the map to see what is most useful for you).

Going from the city to the airport, the University of Health Sciences bus stop is the most useful stop. This is near the Phnom Penh Railway Station.

The bus stops have shelters that are clearly marked “Airport Express Bus”.

The bus stop is outside the terminal building at the end of the carpark. There are some signs pointing in the direction of the bus stop.
I had some taxi/tuk-tuk drivers approach me to try and persuade my to get a ride. I said I was getting a bus and one of the drivers said that the bus doesn’t run very often and it is slow. Ignore such taxi touts (which is good advice for any airport).

Tickets for the Airport Express Bus
The ticket price is 1,500 KHR (0.37 USD) (as of December 2025). The driver doesn’t handle cash so there is an old-school cash drop-box. This is a problem if you don’t have any change. Luckily I had some small riel notes from my last trip so I was able to pay the exact amount.
There is also Tap and Pay for the local payment system WingPay, but this doesn’t accept international cards. Payment by QR code has become the dominant payment system in Cambodia, so payment by Visa and Mastercard is not as prevalent.
If you are arriving at Techo International Airport without riel, there are ATMs and a bank in the arrival hall. Cambodia uses USD and KHR, and many of the ATMs only dispense 100 USD notes. This is inconvenient when you arrive and you are trying to break the note with a small purchase. I took a $100 note to the bank and they converted it to riel. They gave me 20,000 KHR notes (about $5), which is more manageable, but still not useful for buying a bus ticket. Ask for some small change as well (eg some 1,000 and 500 KHR notes).

Onboard the Airport Express Bus
The Airport Express Bus is city bus with seats and standing room, not a seat-only coach.
There is also a section for luggage.
I went to the bank as only had a 5000 riel note from previous visit and they were only too happy to give me 500s and 1000s for the bus.
When I was there there were not signs outside the terminal itself but there were along the way. Key thing is as you come out of the terminal head straight through the car park it is a long walk and you will be stopped as mentioned by taxi and tuk tuk drivers. Don’t completely ignore them – the average price of a taxi is $20 and a tuk tuk $15 to town and you may be offered a decent price by a driver wanting to go home. In my case around 18.00 a tuk tuk driver approached me and said he would take me to my hotel for 20000 riels ($5) which even a cheap skate like me could not turn down once I realised he was serious.
BTW I was outside the terminal 15 minutes after getting off the plane the airport is a real joy
Fair point about the tuk-tuk offers. Good to know if you know what the going rate is for a taxi.
I was impressed with the terminal, it feels calming, like the noise is dampened somehow. The use of e-gates also a great improvement, so I look forward to trying out the departure experience next time.
I can assure you departure is equally easy with again e – gates for super quick processing. Food and drink is though expensive as it is in most international airports and despite the size there is not a lot of seating and not a lot to occupy you whilst waiting. when I was there check in opens 2 and 3/4 hours before departure
