Flight: IndiGo 6E 1814
From: Kuala Lumpur (KUL) To: Bengaluru (BLR)
I flew with IndiGo from Kuala Lumpur to Bengaluru. When I made this booking I was looking for an entry point to Southern India from Kuala Lumpur. There are numerous options from KL, so I compared flights with Skyscanner and picked this flight for its price and time of day.
As a low cost airline IndiGo charge for extras like meals and seat selection. I opted out of seat selection. The rate was 411 MYR ($97 USD) which included a checked bag. This was a great to find a flight for under $100.
IndiGo fly out of KLIA2 (the budge airline terminal) at KUL Airport. I got there early to ensure a better seat selection and to beat the crowd.
The flight departed from the L gates at KLIA2, which is a cramped and joyless building.
Indigo flight 6E 1814 departs KUL at 11:40 and arrives at BLR at 13:30 (India is 2 hours 30 minutes behind Malaysian time).
The scheduled flight time is 4H, 20M, though the actual flying time is under 4 hours. These departure and arrival times were perfect for me. No late night flights or travel in peak hour.
This was my first time flying with IndiGo, so it’s always a bit more special when flying with a new airline.
They are a budget airline so there is not the same legroom as a full-service airline. The legroom seemed to be a bit more generous than Jetstar or Tigerair (for example).
Hello 6E – the inflight magazine of IndiGo.
IndiGo have been expanding their route network in Southeast Asia (including flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi), and they are now flying to Yangon.
There is no free meal service, so you can pre-order a meal when booking or order something onboard. Food available includes sandwiches and soup/noodle bowls. Sandwiches are $2USD and the bowls are $3USD.
A coffee is 2 USD.
Alcohol is available on selected international flights, and a beer is 5USD.
There is no inflight entertainment, so the onus is on you to entertain yourself. For me that means a solid block of time getting some work done on my laptop. And of course I always travel with my Kindle Paperwhite.
The flight arrived slightly early, so that was a bonus.
The new Bengaluru Airport looks great, and the immigration process was quick.
Overall this was a good flight option from Kuala Lumpur to Bengaluru. IndiGo also offer connecting flight from BLR to their extensive network across India.
