Hotel Review: Durga Resort, Arambol, Goa – India

February 6, 2020 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Durga Resort, Arambol, Goa - India

Hotel Name: Durga Resort.
Address: Arambol Narayan Temple Khalcha Wada, Arambol Beach, Goa, India.

I stayed at the Durga Resort in Arambol, Goa, India. I booked it online and picked it for its location near the beach. The rate was ₹ 999 ($13.78 USD) for a private room with a bathroom.

The hotel is in between the beach and the first beach road, down an alleyway. It’s clearly marked on Google Maps so it wasn’t difficult to find. I got dropped off by the taxi at the alley and walked to the hotel from there.

Alley to Durga Resort

Considering how cramped the alleys were and how small some of the other guesthouses I passed looked, I was surprised to find how spacious this hotel was. There are three building lots here that form a triangle, with a parking space and garden in the middle.

I got one of the lower rooms in the main building, facing the garden.

Durga Resort rooms

I got a double room with a fan, and the room had a window facing the garden. The bed was comfortable and everything was in good working order.

Room

Enough space by the bed to place my bags. There is free wifi at the hotel, and I had a good connection in my room.

Table and closet

The bathroom was bright and spacious and in good order. No hot water though, which I had become used to by now as a feature of cheap rooms in India.

Next to the hotel is the Laxmi Narayan Temple. There was some festival on when I was there so it was pumping out loud music throughout the day. I liked the music, and it just added another layer to the soundscape of wonderful India.

The hotel is one property behind the beach. There is a little alley at the front where you walk by the property in front. You just have to remember the alley entrance when coming back. I had considered staying in some of the beach shacks that Arambol is famous for, but for a few dollars more I got this nice room with beach access instead.

Arambol turned out to be one of my favourite beaches in North Goa.

Overall this was a great budget hotel option for staying in Arambol Beach. Book the Durga Resort online or search for more hotels in Arambol.
