Hotel Review: Centara Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam

January 15, 2024 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Centara Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam

Hotel review of the Centara Hotel in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam.

Hotel Name: Centara Hotel
Address: 270 Ly Tu Trong, Ben Thành Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

I stayed at the Centara Hotel, in Ho Chi Minh City. I booked online at the rate of $17.65 USD per night, and I booked it for its price and location in District 1.

Centara Hotel is located in Ben Thanh ward, which is the same area as Ben Thanh Market (the landmark central market of the city). This is one of the best areas to stay in the city if you are a visitor.

If you are visiting for the first time then read my guide on where to stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

Centara Hotel Ly Tu Trong

The Centara Hotel used to be Holiday Hotel, and there was still some old signage on the front of the building when I stayed.

The hotel is in a tall and skinny building that is typical in Vietnam. With a narrow front, the entrance is sometimes hiding in plain sight if you are walking by.

The checking in process was simple enough. I just showed my passport and they found my booking, which I paid online.

Centara Hotel reception

I got a Superior King Room, which was a Super Saver promotion. I booked it because it had a window. These tall and skinny buildings will have room in the middle with no window, so keep that in mind if a window is important.

Centara Hotel room

My room faced the back of the building. The trees in the background are at Tao Dan Park.

The bed was kingly and comfortable, and there was useful bedside tables with power outlets.

The room included a desk and chair set that was suitable for working at. There was air conditioning (required), but no fan (which would have been enough). There is wifi in the room, and I was able to get a good reception.

Centara Hotel chairs

The bare minimum of amenities, and free drinking water is supplied.

The bathroom was clean and in good working order. I would have preferred the shower to not have the glass door.

Overall this was a good option if you are looking for a budget hotel in District 1. The hotel a bit old and run down, but at least it is priced accordingly.

Check prices for the Centara Hotel or search for more hotels in Ho Chi Minh City.
