Guesthouse Review: Banwiang Guest House, Chiang Mai – Thailand

September 23, 2015 By James Clark

Guesthouse Name: Banwiang Guest House
Address: 38/1 Ratchadumnern Road, Soi 1, Old City, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Banwiang Guest House, Chiang Mai - Thailand

I stayed at the Banwiang Guest House in Chiang Mai. I booked online at the rate of $9.79 USD and selected it for it location near the East Gate of the Chiang Mai moat. Chiang Mai has hundreds of little guesthouses so the prices are competitive. I have stayed in a few guesthouses in this area but it was the first time here.

After travelling in Indonesia last month where there is always something wrong with the guesthouses, it was so good to come back to Chiang Mai where everything works.

I got a double fan room, which at the end of rainy season is adequate. Chiang Mai gets hot in March and April, but in September I find a fan room is suffice at night.

Double Room

The attached bath was basic but clean and tidy. Hot water and no blocked pipes.

Bathroom

There is a common area downstairs which is where breakfast is usually served, except there was no breakfast available (due to being low season). Most guesthouses I’ve stayed at in Chiang Mai charge for breakfast so that wasn’t a problem.

Common Area

The wifi was reliable and I had no problem getting a signal in my room.

The guesthouse also has a travel booking office for tours and bus tickets.

Overall this was a good cheapo guesthouse. Book the Banwiang Guest House online or search for more hotels in Chiang Mai.
