Guesthouse Review: Ampawan House, Chiang Mai – Thailand

September 25, 2015 By James Clark

Guesthouse Name: Ampawan House
Address: 10/2 Ratchadamnoen Rd Lane 5, Old City, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Ampawan House, Chiang Mai - Thailand

I stayed at Ampawan House in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I walked in off the street and paid 300 Baht ($8.40 USD) for double fan room. I’ve stayed here before as it is convenient to Tha Pae gate and it is a a reliable cheap guesthouse.

It’s pretty basic but like many cheap guesthouses in Chiang Mai it’s clean and everything works. During the rainy season air conditioning isn’t required so I opt for the fan room.

Double Room

The bathroom is bright and clean, no issues with plumbing, and an instant hot water system that works.

Wifi is available from multiple signals so there was no problem connecting in the room.

There is no breakfast service here but there are plenty of options in the surrounding streets. Tea and coffee is available for 10 baht.

Ampawan House doesn’t have a social area like other guesthouses do, so you wont meet other travellers there if that is what you like. It is good though if you just want a private and simple accommodation in a good location.

I found a better online rate of 252.99 online, or you can search for more hotels in Chiang Mai.
