Hotel Review: Village Inn, Unawatuna – Sri Lanka

February 22, 2015 By James Clark Leave a Comment

Hotel Name: Village Inn
Address: Off Yaddehimulla Rd, Unawatuna, Sri Lanka

Village Inn, Unawatuna - Sri Lanka

I stayed at the Village Inn guesthouse in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka. I found this place via Lonely Planet (the book version) which was listed as a recommended place. I was walking around looking for a place and ended up here.

The Village Inn is just off the beach street and down a little lane. The property is set in land surrounded by coconut trees and it feels like you are in the countryside, yet it is only 3 minutes walk to the beach.

The guesthouse is set on a property with accommodation in a few different buildings.

Village Inn reception

I got a room upstairs which has a little sitting area outside the room.

Village Inn verandah seats

My room was a double (comprised of two singles) with an attached bathroom. The mattresses were a bit thin but wasn’t too uncomfortable.

Village Inn beds

Standard cold-water shower in the bathroom.

All up I enjoyed my stay here, especially being surrounded by nature which makes the property stand out from the other guesthouses on the beach road. It’s a good option if you are looking for a budget room and don’t mind these basic guesthouses.

If you are looking for something a little more luxurious then search for more guesthouses and hotels in Unawatuna at Agoda.
