Hotel Review: Tung Trang Hotel, Hanoi – Vietnam

January 12, 2016 By James Clark

Hotel Name: Tung Trang Hotel
Address: 13 Tam Thuong Alley (Between 38-40 Hang Bong Street), Old Quarter, Hanoi, Vietnam

Tung Trang Hotel, Hanoi - Vietnam

I stayed at the Tung Trang Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. I booked online at Agoda for the rate of $13 USD per night. I booked it for its price and location in the Old Quarter. The hotel is in a great location, down an alley off one of the main streets. Usually, these sorts of places that are down little alleys can be hard to find, but this was easy to find – just keep walking down the alley until you find it.

The hotel is opposite an old temple decorated with flags and plumes of incense, and there is no traffic noise down this lane.

Upon arrival, I found out that the standard room that I booked was not available as the previous guest had fallen sick and couldn’t leave. Instead, they upgraded me to the next room which would otherwise have been a few dollars more.

My room was a double room with an ensuite bathroom. The room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. Being the Hanoi winter I didn’t need to use the fan in my room.

The bathroom was clean and orderly, with a hot water system that needs to be turned on for each use (about 10 minutes to heat).

Bathroom

The wifi signal was good in my room and I didn’t have any connectivity issues.

Reception

There is a breakfast service available which consisted of the usual Vietnam guesthouse favourite of an egg and bread roll breakfast. This with a tea/coffee was 30,000 VND ($1.34 USD).

Breakfast

Overall this was a great budget guesthouse experience and ideal if you are looking for a cheap stay in a good location. Book the Tung Trang Hotel online or search for more hotels in Hanoi. If you are unfamiliar with Hanoi, read about the best areas to stay in Hanoi for visitors.
