Hotel Review: Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau – Vietnam

March 15, 2021 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau - Vietnam

Hotel Name: Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau
Address: 32 Tran Quy Cap Street, Thang Tam, Vung Tau, Vietnam.

I stayed at Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau in Vung Tau, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 14.96 USD per night, and I booked it for its location in the Back Beach area of Vung Tau.

I booked this the day before travel, and I was staying on the weekend, so there were hardly any hotel rooms available when I booked. Vung Tau is a popular weekend getaway for Saigonese, so consider this when making a visit.

The Thuy Van Hotel is in a small side street named Tran Quy Cap. The hotel is not to be confused with the Thuy Van Hotel on the beachfront. It appears that the hotel I was staying at identifies itself as Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau. I found this out because the taxi took me to the other Thuy Van Hotel first.

The Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau stands out on the street with its green and orange paint job.

Thuy Van Hotel

The hotel is a typical Vietnamese family-run budget hotel. After checking in I was shown to my room.

Reception

I booked a double room with a private bathroom. I booked a room with a window, and I got a front room with windows on two sides. When I arrived the room had an overpowering smell of some kind of cleaning agent, so I was glad to be able to open the windows and door to allow air to circulate.

Room at Thuy Van Hotel

The bed was comfortable, and the room had the option of air conditioning or a fan. There is free wifi at the hotel, and I had a good reception in my room.

Drinks are provided in the room. The water is not free, but at 10,000 VND (0.44 USD) this is not the $8 bottle of water that fancy hotels trick into opening.

Drinks

The bathroom was ok apart from the leaking shower hose and the slow hot water.

Bathroom

I could see the sea from my balcony, which would be enough of a view for some hotels to claim a sea view. I wasn’t here for the sea view obviously, but it was good to be close enough to walk to the beach.

Balcony view

There is no breakfast service here, but there are plenty of local options nearby. There are also a few convenience stores like Circle K nearby.

Overall this was an adequate place to stay in Vung Tau if you are just looking for a cheap room and nothing else.

Book the Thuy Van Hotel Vung Tau online or search for more hotels in Vung Tau.
