The Village Langkawi – Guesthouse in the backpacker area of Cenang Beach

March 19, 2023 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: The Village Langkawi

Hotel Name: The Village Langkawi.
Address: Kampung Pantai Cenang, Pantai Cenang, Langkawi, Malaysia.

I stayed at the The Village Langkawi in Langkawi, Malaysia. I booked online at the rate of 58.44 MYR ($12.45 USD) per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Langkawi.

The Village Langkawi is in what you could call the backpacker area of Cenang Beach of Langkawi. Cenang Beach is the best area to stay in Langkawi, and there is a road that is filled with hostels and guesthouses. The road is just called Kampung Pantai Cenang (Cenang Beach Village) and there is a sign at the start of the road that has guesthouse signs.

The street is a residential area with no shops, so it is very quiet. If you are staying in this street then it’s best to mark the address on Google Maps.

The Village Langkawi is a guesthouse that consists of a family house and accommodation blocks that form a courtyard.

After finding the manager I was shown to my room. I got a double room with private bathroom.

This is a fairly typical spartan guesthouse, but as long as the bed is comfortable and it has air conditioning (a requirement in these uninsulated buildings) then this is about as much as you can expect. My room had a good wifi connection and there was a suitable desk. The room had a window with a verandah area that opens out onto the courtyard and other rooms.

The bathroom was also typical of the guesthouse style. Instant hot water system and everything was in working order.

The bathroom had a Malaysian-style bum gun, which is just a hose without the gun to control the spray. I’ve still not mastered the art of this style.

The most annoying thing of the room was the lack of convenient power outlets and the lack of space to put clothes. This “clothes rack” was laughably lazy.

I was just here to have a cheap bed near the beach, and The Langkawi Village is a 5-minute walk away from the beach.

Cenang Beach

Overall The Village Langkawi is suitable for backpackers looking for a cheap private room near Cenang Beach.

Book the The Village Langkawi online or search for more hotels in Langkawi.
