Guesthouse Review: Taman Negara Travellers Lodge, Kuala Tahan – Malaysia

April 11, 2019 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Taman Negara Travellers Lodge, Kuala Tahan - Malaysia

Hotel Name: Taman Negara Travellers Lodge
Address: Taman Negara, Kuala Tahan, Malaysia.

I stayed at the Taman Negara Travellers Lodge in Kuala Tahan, Malaysia. I booked online for the rate of 60 MYR ($14.45 USD) plus there is a 10 MYR ($2.40 USD) government tax which is not collected during booking.

Kuala Tahan is the village on the river opposite the entrance to Taman Negara, the national park. Kuala Tahan is an ideal base for visiting Taman Negara as you can visit the park easily, and there are traveller services in the village.

Taman Negara Travellers Lodge is in the village and a short walk from the riverfront. The reception also serves as a travel agent for park tours and onward travels.

Taman Negara Travellers Lodge

There are two buildings that make up the lodge, and I was in the back building.

Travellers Lodge

I got a double room with private bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room had air conditioning. There is free wifi at the guesthouse, and I got a signal in my room. I was told I might not get a signal in that section, so that is a consideration.

Bed

The room was a decent size but it wasn’t well thought out in terms of where things were placed. For example the power outlets and light switches were on the wall next to the bed, so you had to climb onto the bed to turn everything on and off. There was also a hanging rack above the bed, instead of somewhere else more appropriate.

Power outlets

The bathroom was clean and had a good hot water system, but again placement wasn’t the best. The sink was outside the bathroom, and there was scarcely enough room to place toiletries. I don’t mind spartan budget accommodation, but just little design changes make a big difference in the functionality of a room.

Bathroom

There is no breakfast service here, but there are plenty of local and western cafes nearby serving breakfast.

Overall this was a decent place to stay if you are looking for a private budget room near Taman Negara. Book the Taman Negara Travellers Lodge online or search for more Kuala Tahan hotels.
