Hotel Review: Royal Guest, Nuwara Eliya – Sri Lanka

February 17, 2015 By James Clark

Hotel Name: Royal Guest
Address: 221 St Andrew’s Drive, Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka

Royal Guest, Nuwara Eliya - Sri Lanka

I stayed at the Royal Guest Inn in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. I booked in advance via Agoda and booked it for its location near to the town. Many of these hill-town places often list hotels and guesthouses far away from the actual town, so it’s always good to check the booking map.

In the case of the Royal Guest, it was located just outside this little town, about 10 minutes walk up a hill. I got a tuk tuk from the bus station with my bags, but it was no problem walking to the guesthouse afterwards.

This Inn/Guesthouse had a homestay feel to it, with family children playing in the house. My room was furnished and decorated like it was everyones grandma’s spare bedroom.

Having come from the sea-level tropics I was not prepared for the cool evenings, so make sure to request an extra blanket if you have become a cold-weather wussie such as myself.

The bathroom had a notice that the hot water service starts at 6am. I had an early bus so I wasn’t expecting a hot shower, but the water came out blazing hot.

Wifi is available here and I got the signal in my room. I didn’t have breakfast here and didn’t really do much apart from retire to my room after a long travel day, so this guesthouses served its purpose for me.

You can book the Royal Guest Inn online, or search for more hotels in Nuwara Eliya.
