Guesthouse Review: Rose House Dabong – Malaysia

April 8, 2019 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Rose House Dabong - Malaysia

Hotel Name: Rose House Dabong
Address: Lot 1050, Dabong, Kelantan, Malaysia.

I stayed at the Rose House Dabong in Dabong, Malaysia. I’d never heard of Dabong until I started planning my trip on the Jungle Railway. Dabong is a village on the railway line, and one of the last daytime services terminates here. I wanted to see the railway during the day time so I no choice but to stay here for the night.

Dabong is a village with no hotels, so when I was searching for a place to stay on booking sites nothing nearby was showing up. I Googled for guesthouses and this Facebook page turned up. I booked a room via Facebook, and the rate was 80 MYR ($19.35 USD).

Rose House Dabong

The guesthouse is about 5 minutes walk from the train station. There’s no street address so just save it on Google Maps. Once you are on the right street you can’t miss it as the house is a bright rose colour.

I was greeted by the friendly owner who was expecting my arrival. After a welcome cup of tea and biscuits I was shown to my room.

Welcome Tea

I got a double room with private bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room had air conditioning and a fan.

Bed

My room was more like a studio apartment as there was also a lounge in the room.

The bathroom was clean and in good condition. Thankfully the toilet is not village style and there is a western toilet.

Bathroom

There is also a kitchenette at the front entrance with tea and coffee making facilities.

There is no wifi at the guesthouse because there is free public community wifi in the village. The owner will give you the password upon request.

Wifi Komuniti

Overall this was a good choice for accommodation in Dabang, especially if you are getting the train.
