Hotel Review: River Crossing Lodge, Windhoek – Namibia

March 22, 2015 By James Clark Leave a Comment

River Crossing Lodge, Windhoek - Namibia

Hotel Name: River Crossing Lodge
Address: 3km from Windhoek, Namibia

I stayed at the River Crossing Lodge near Windhoek in Namibia. I stayed as a guest of the hotel, which was provided by the Namibia Tourism Board. I was in Namibia as part of a press trip that was covering the Mad Max filming locations. I was with seven other writers on this trip and this is where we stayed on our first night in Namibia.

The lodge is located around 3km outside of Windhoek so you will either be in a tour group or travelling independently with your own car if you stay here. The property is set in the hills that overlook Windhoek, and you can see the city from here.

The main building consists of the reception, dining area, and swimming pool.

Surrounding the main building are the private accommodation units.

The units are spacious with comfortable beds and a lounge area. I was able to get wifi from my bungalow but I heard from others who couldn’t get wifi in their room.

As it was my first night in Namibia I didn’t have a power adaptor yet and Namibia use the same power socket as South Africa, which I didn’t have. The outlets in the room were only the South Africa style but luckily the reception found a spare power adapter for me.

The bathroom had a big window looking out to the empty hills. Great view while having a shower.

Being the urban type that I am I was initially reluctant to stay outside the city centre, but I had made plans to visit Windhoek after this trip so it didn’t matter so much. Come sunset though I was won over with the location as the surrounding hills started to glow from the setting sun.

Breakfast was provided, consisting of the usual cereals and toast, fruit and yogurt. Cooked breakfast of bacon and eggs was available available.
