Hotel Review: Muntri House, Georgetown, Penang – Malaysia

February 8, 2015 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Muntri House, Georgetown, Penang – Malaysia

Hotel Name: Muntri House
Address: 48 Jalan Muntri, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia

I stayed at Muntri House in Georgetown, Penang. I booked via Agoda and selected it for its location and price.

Muntri House is a guesthouse accommodation in Jalan Muntri – a quiet street that runs parallel to the main street of Georgetown (Lebuh Chulia). There are a few other guesthouses on this street and it’s a central place to stay in Penang.

The guesthouse is in a heritage building and much of the original features of the property can be seen here. The reception area has a soothing garden feature with old-style tile flooring.

Muntri House Reception

I stayed in one of the private rooms with shared bathroom. The rooms are the typical Southeast Asia guesthouse style of partitioned box rooms. In this case the rooms have been built into the main ground floor area.

Muntri House rooms

My room had a fan and an air conditioning unit, but the fan was suffice for the night. No window, and the wifi was working no problem. My mattress was thin and I could feel the wooden slats of the bed box.

Beyond my room was another common area with a bathroom.

And another bathroom outback.

Breakfast was included in the price but I went out for Indian breakfast, because roti canai > jam on toast.

You can book the Muntri House online, or search for more Hotels in Penang.
