Hotel Review: Motel Thuy Loc, Ho Tram – Vietnam

February 5, 2024 By James Clark

Motel Thuy Loc

Hotel review of the Motel Thuy Loc near Ho Tram Beach in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Vietnam.

Hotel Name: Motel Thủy Lộc
Address: 305 Ấp Hồ Tràm, Xã Phước Thuận, Huyện Xuyên Mộc, Ho Tram Beach, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam

I stayed at the Motel Thuy Loc in Ho Tram, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 349,315 VND ($14.35 USD) per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Ho Tram.

Ho Tram is best known for its long stretch of coast that is lined with resorts along the Ho Tram – Binh Chau sea resort route. I wanted to see if there was anything like a township here, which is how I picked Motel Thuy Loc.

The Motel Thuy Loc is on a new road that goes inland from the coast. It was still a work in progress when I visited and not much to do in the area.

A motel usually suggests you drive into the hotel. It’s not an accommodation description that is used often in Vietnam, but there is parking here if you are driving.

The motel/hotel is easy enough to find once you are on this street. Just check your map first.

The hotel is a typical family-run operation, with kids and older family members out the back. They were surprised to see a foreigner here, as most foreigners stay at the beach resorts.

Motel Thuy Loc reception

There is a lift here, but it’s not a high building so I used the stairs most of the time.

I booked a “Double Room Standard” which had a double bed with a window view to the side of the building. The room was clean and simple, just what you would expect from a well-run budget hotel in Vietnam.

The bed was comfortable and the room had the option of fan or air-conditioning. I found that the fan was enough for the evenings, so no need to keep the A/C running all night.

There is a TV, which hotels still feel obliged to provide. There is free wifi, so my screen entertainment was from my laptop.

The bathroom was a typical shower/toilet wet room, kept in good condition.

The beach is about 12 minutes walk from the hotel. I wasn’t expecting much of the beach but it’s actually pretty good. t’s from Ho Tram where the beaches start getting better in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

Ho Tram Beach

Overall this was a decent budget hotel, but it’s only suitable if you have your own transport (such as if you are motorbike touring). It’s a bit far from the action if you are travelling by public transport.

Check prices for the Motel Thuy Loc or search for more hotels in Ho Tram.
