Hotel Review: Minh Vy Hotel, Long Hai – Vietnam

February 4, 2024 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Minh Vy Hotel, Long Hai - Vietnam

Hotel review of the Minh Vy Hotel in Long Hai, a guesthouse-style accommodation near Long Hai Beach in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Vietnam.

Hotel Name: Minh Vy Hotel.
Address: 40 Ly Tu Trong, Long Hai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Vietnam.

I stayed at the Minh Vy Hotel in Long Hai, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 280,419 VND ($11.50 USD), and I booked it for its price and location in Long Hai.

Long Hai is in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, about halfway between Vung Tau City and the Ho Tram Beach area. Long Hai is technically the closest beach to Ho Chi Minh City, though the beaches (and thus amenities) are better in Vung Tau. If you are looking for a beach break from Ho Chi Minh City, you are better off staying in Vung Tau.

I came to Long Hai out of curiosity as you can see some of the bigger hotels from Vung Tau. Without knowing where to stay, I picked Minh Vy Hotel as it looked near enough to a good stretch of beach.

The Minh Vy Hotel is a small family-run operation in a quiet street. It’s probably more of a guesthouse than hotel.

Minh Vy Hotel reception

I was given a warm welcome and shown to my room. I was allocated a room that face outside via a balcony.

I booked a “Double Room Standard”, though I was allocated a twin room. It was a simple room with a comfortable bed.

The room had a fan and air-conditioning, and it was a nice environment outside.

There is free wifi here, and I had a good reception in my room. I always like when the wifi boxes are prominently displayed throughout the building.

The bathroom was the usual wetroom-style, with the shower and toilet in the same space. This is no problem in the tropics, where bathrooms dry out quickly.

There is no food service here, so I went out for food for dinner and breakfast. There is not much in this area though, so I ended up walking around for a while.

Long Hai Beach is about 5 minutes walk away. Some sections of the beach are long and sandy, but it’s not a great beach. It’s a beach that locals go to for a sea breeze while eating seafood. Further along the beach is a fishing village that is not good for tourism purposes, so I picked the right section of beach.

Long Hai Beach

Overall I enjoyed my stay here. I liked staying at the family-operated guesthouses in random places around Vietnam. You wouldn’t come here for a beach break, but there are some historic war sights nearby that might draw a foreign tourist to this otherwise very domestic beach destination.

Check prices for the Minh Vy Hotel or search for more hotels in Long Hai.
