Hotel Review: Minh Cat Hotel, Nha Trang – Vietnam

March 9, 2025 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Minh Cat Hotel, Nha Trang - Vietnam

Hotel review of the Minh Cat Hotel in Nha Trang, a budget hotel within walking distance to Nha Trang Beach.

Hotel Name: Minh Cat Hotel.
Address: 3B Ly Tu Trong Street, Nha Trang, Vietnam.

I stayed at the Minh Cat Hotel in Nha Trang, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 194,038 VND ($7.59 USD) per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Nha Trang if you want to feel like you are in the city and not a resort area.

The Minh Cat Hotel is a few blocks from the central area of beach, but in an area that is not as touristy as the main tourist block. I’ve been to Nha Trang several times (I’ve lost count by now), and this area around Ly Tu Trong Street is one of the best areas to stay in Nha Trang.

Ly Tu Trong Street

The hotel is a typical tall and skinny building building of Vietnam.

Also typical is for motorbikes to be anywhere there is space.

Minh Cat Hotel entrance

Motorbikes inside the reception area is also common for houses, shophouses, and budget hotels in Vietnam.

Minh Cat Hotel reception

I booked a “Standard Double Bed” room and I ended up in a room with two double beds. My room was facing the street and it was brightly lit.

The room was spacious for a budget hotel, and it still amazes me what great value it is to travel in Vietnam.

Minh Cat Hotel table

The room had a table/desk with a stool for a chair, so not exactly optimal if you want a work desk. There is wifi in the room, and I had a reception from different floors.

Minh Cat Hotel

I booked the room because it had a balcony. I wasn’t expecting much, but I just wanted a window room and not one of the middle rooms with no window. The balcony was too small to be useful, but it was nice to have a window facing trees.

The bathroom was a typical shower/toilet room. It was fine, but the hot water took a while to fire up.

Overall this was a reliable budget hotel option in Nha Trang. I was just looking for a cheap room that was not in the main tourist area, and this was ok for me. The hotel is 7 minutes walk to the beach, and there are some good local restaurants nearby.

Book the Minh Cat Hotel online or search for more hotels in Nha Trang.
