Hotel Review: Mandarin Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia

March 12, 2015 By James Clark 1 Comment

Hotel Name: Mandarin Pacific Hotel
Address: 2-8 Jalan Sultan, Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Mandarin Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia

I stayed at the Mandarin Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. I booked online and selected it for its location and price. I found a room available online for $22.59 USD which is a good deal considering a guesthouse room with a shared bathroom in the same area is around $16 USD.

The Mandarin Pacific Hotel is a three star hotel and judging from its outside appearance (see above) it looks like it hasn’t been renovated since the 70s. My room had two beds which were comfortable enough, though the fittings in the room looked old and tired, and it could have used a new coat of paint.

Same for the bathroom, clean and functional but a bit old looking.

My booking came with breakfast included. I usually skip breakfast in Malaysian hotels when there is Indian breakfast available outside but this time I had it. The breakfast consisted of Asian cooked meals (noodle dishes) and western staples of cereal (generic cornflakes and coco pops) toast, and eggs.

I had good wifi in my room with no problem connecting or dropping out.

Overall I can’t complain for 20 bucks, especially given how run down some of the guesthouses are in the Chinatown area. Beyond $30 though you could find much nicer places in KL for the same price.

Book the Mandarin Pacific Hotel online or search for more hotels in KL. For ideas on which area to stay in check this guide.
