Guesthouse Review: Lang Hoose, Penang – Malaysia

January 26, 2020 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Lang Hoose, Penang - Malaysia

Guesthouse Name: Lang Hoose.
Address: 269, Lebuh Pantai, George Town, Penang, Malaysia.

I stayed at Lang Hoose in Georgetown, Penang. I booked it online and selected it from the many guesthouses on offer for the combination of price and location. The rate was 77.90 MYR per night, plus there is the 10 MYR tax that is collected upon checkin, so 87.90 MYR ($21 USD). This was for a single room with a private bathroom.

Lang Hoose (Hang Loose in reverse) is on Lebuh Pantai (Beach Street), which is deep inside the UNESCO area of Georgetown. Anywhere within the World Heritage zone is a good area to stay in Georgetown.

Lang Hoose Beach Road

Being within the UNESCO area, the guesthouse is in one of the many historic shophouses that makes Georgetown famous.

Lang Hoose Shopfront

The shophouses have a narrow front and long and skinny body. The reception is at the front and then there are rooms all the way back. The guesthouse is filled will lots of collectable items as decoration.

Antiques

I got a single room with a window. The bed was comfortable and it had a useful bedside table with power outlets. There is free wifi here, and I had a good connection in my room.

Single bed

I liked the hanging shelves and clothes rack not in a closet. I find closets in hotels to be a waste of space, and a good way to forget things.

Lang Hoose room

The bathroom was clean and spacious with a good hot water system. The sink could have had better space to place things.

Bathroom

There is a drinking water unit in the reception area, which I think every hotel should do.

Water

A basic breakfast of coffee and toast is available where you can help yourself. A good option if you are doing it on the cheap, though if you are in Penang you should be having the Indian breakfasts!

Overall this was a good place to stay as a budget guesthouse in Penang. Book Lang Hoose online or search for more hotels in Penang.
