Hotel Review: Joy Inn Hotel, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia

April 1, 2018 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Joy Inn Hotel, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia

Hotel Name: Joy Inn Hotel
Address: No.22-1, Jalan Thambipillay, Brickfields, KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I stayed at the Joy Inn Hotel in KL. I booked it for it’s location at KL Sentral, which is the main train station of Kuala Lumpur. As is often the case when I’m in KL I was just passing through for a day and I had a morning flight, so I wanted to be near the airport train for a speedy getaway. Even if you don’t need to be near the station this area is not a bad option for budget accommodation, and I list it as one of my preferred areas to stay in Kuala Lumpur.

The hotel is on Jalan Thambipillay, which is behind the monorail terminal that is connected to KL Sentral.

While it is close to the station, getting out of the station is a bit confusing if you don’t know it well. The station is connected to a mall, which then connects to the monorail and streets outside.

Joy Inn Hotel

The Joy Inn Hotel is typical in style of budget hotels in KL. There is one long floor which is how old shophouses are designed. There are partitioned rooms all along the hallway, which means that many of the rooms won’t have a window. Often these partitioned rooms have flimsy walls, but here they have built solid walls.

Hallway

Knowing that I could be staying in a windowless box I made sure to pick the room with a window, which you should be able to do when you book online. Having a window makes a world of difference with these small rooms. The room itself was clean and comfortable with air conditioning and a good bed.

Bedroom with window

In addition to a window, I got a room with private bathroom as often these type of budget accommodations have shared bathrooms. The bathroom was in clean and orderly condition.

There is free wifi here which is available throughout the property. There is no breakfast service, but there are plenty of cheap Indian places nearby.

Overall I was happy with my stay here. This was a good budget option if you are transiting through KL.

Book the Joy Inn Hotel online or search for more hotels in Kuala Lumpur.
