Hotel Review: Huong Giang Bungalow, Phu Quoc – Vietnam

January 12, 2021 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Huong Giang Bungalow, Phu Quoc - Vietnam

Hotel Name: Huong Giang Bungalow
Address: 18/3 Tran Hung Dao, Phu Quoc, Kien Giang, Vietnam.

I stayed at Huong Giang Bungalow in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. I booked online at the rate of 355,818 VND ($15.45 USD) per night, and I booked it for its location in Phu Quoc.

Phu Quoc is a big island (roughly the same land size as Phuket), so knowing what area you want to stay in is important to know when you start your accommodation search. If you haven’t been before, the main thing to know is that Duong Dong is the main town of Phu Quoc, and to the south of that is Long Beach (the main beach of the island).

Long Beach is a typical island resort where hotels and services are spread out on one long road. My hotel selection process was to find a place on the beachside of the main road and to be near a cluster of other shops and hotels.

The Huong Giang Bungalow is down an alley off an alley, off the main road. My taxi from the ferry port was able to find it easy enough.

Huong Giang Bungalow entrance

The Huong Giang Bungalow is set on a large plot of land with bungalows spread out among the tropical trees.

Bungalows

After a friendly welcome, I was taken to my bungalow accommodation.

Bungalow

The Huong Giang Bungalow offers budget bungalow accommodation. I got a double room with a private bathroom. The bed was firm but comfortable, and the room had the option of A/C and a fan. There is free wifi here, and I got a good reception in my room. It is worth checking these details when booking bungalow accommodation, as sometimes the signal doesn’t go to all of the bungalows.

Bed

This is a budget guesthouse-style accommodation, so the room has the basic furniture needs. The room has windows on two sides, and being surrounded by a garden of greenery was a nice change from a hotel.

Room

The bathroom was also spacious and basic. There is a solar hot water system, so it’s not instant. You are in the tropics though, so the water was warm.

Bathroom

There is a breakfast service provided here, which was included in my booking price. It is the usual selection of Vietnamese-style breakfast, and I got the banh mi op la (bread roll and eggs) with Vietnamese coffee.

Breakfast

There are cats and chickens wandering around here, adding to the country vibes of the property.

Cat and chicken

It’s less than five minutes walk from the bungalow to the beach. Obviously being slightly off the beach makes the price cheaper compared to the beachfront properties. There are some restaurants and bars nearby as well in the system of alleyways. You can get by in this area without having to go on the main road to look around for food.

Long Beach

Overall this was a great place to stay in Phu Quoc if you are looking for a cheap hotel option in Long Beach. Book the Huong Giang Bungalow online or search for more hotels in Phu Quoc.
