Hotel Review: Homestyle Hotel, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia

September 21, 2015 By James Clark

Homestyle Hotel, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia

Guesthouse Name: Homestyle Hotel
Address: 13 Jalan Rembia, Off Tengkat Tong Shin, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

[Edit: Homestyle Hotel is now closed. This post is left as an archive, and search for more hotels in Kuala Lumpur here.]

I stayed at the Homestyle Hotel in KL. I walked in off the street and paid 90 Ringgit ($20 USD). I saw a rate for 85 Ringgit online but I didn’t get round to booking online. I picked this place because it was across the road from a dodgy guesthouse I stayed at the night before. Luckily the Homestyle Hotel turned out to be a good choice.

The Homestay Hotel is on a quiet side street off Tengkat Tong Shin which is two streets behind Bukit Bintang. It’s close to the tourist area without feeling like you are in it.

As the name would suggest the hotel has a homestay feel to it. I got a double room which had a fan and A/C. I loved the little courtyard which was much nicer to look at than an alleyway. The sheets and some of the fittings were a bit worn but everything felt clean and well maintained.

Double Room

The bathroom was clean and tidy, though it had one of those showers with two shower heads, and I couldn’t work out how turn turn one or the other off.

Bathroom

At the entrance to the property is a common lounge area.

Front Lounge

A simple breakfast is served here which I didn’t try (I always eat Indian breakfasts in KL).

Breakfast

There is free wifi which is available in the rooms and common areas.

Overall this was a great little place to stay if you are looking for budget guesthouse accommodation in the Bukit Bintang area.

If you’re new to KL check out the best area’s to stay in Kuala Lumpur.
