Hotel Review: Hak Heng Hotel, Poipet – Cambodia

December 6, 2024 By James Clark

Hotel review of the Hak Heng Hotel in Poipet, a budget hotel in the casino border town of Poipet in Cambodia.

Hotel Name: Hak Heng Hotel.
Address: Kbal Spean Village Poipet Commune, Krong Poipet, Bonteaymeanchey Province, Cambodia.

I stayed at the Hak Heng Hotel in Poipet, Cambodia. I booked online at the rate of $35.30 USD, and I booked it for its location in Poipet.

Poipet is on the Thailand-Cambodia border, and most people who visit here are casino tourists from Thailand. There are no travel guides to Poipet, so I had to guess if this area was ok to stay in. Ultimately I just picked something within walking distance to the train station (which wasn’t open anyway). It seems that most Thai tourists stay near the border at one of the casinos.

There is one main raod that leads from the border. The hotel is on a road off the main road (many of the roads don’t seem to have names, but this description makes more sense if you look on the map).

On the same street is the Hak Huot Hotel, and I have seen the Hak Heng Hotel listed online as the Hak Huot Hotel II.

There is motorbike parking out the front, and the reception is shared with a western-style restaurant.

I booked a Deluxe Twin Room, which had a double and single bed.

The room had a table/work bench, and there was a good wifi reception in the room.

Kettle and water provided.

Decent bathroom, though not much space around the sink.

Overall this was a suitable budget hotel in Poipet if you end up having to stay here the night.

Book the Hak Heng Hotel online or search for more hotels in Poipet.

I noticed some guest houses on the main road near the train station, but I didn’t see them on booking sites. You could walk into those place and ask for a room.
