Chitanun Guest House review: A guesthouse in Kanchanaburi – Thailand

July 18, 2017 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Chitanun Guest House, Kanchanaburi - Thailand

Hotel Name: Chitanun Guest House
Address: 47/3 Maenam Kwae Road, Kanchanaburi, Thailand

I stayed at the Chitanun Guest House in Kanchanaburi. I booked online at the rate of $6.88USD per night. That was the online discounted rate and it didn’t show the THB rate.

The Chitanun is on Maenam Kwae Road, which is the main tourist and entertainment road in Kanchanaburi. It’s a long road that runs parallel to the river, and eventually leads to the famous bridge over the river Kwai. I picked this guesthouse is it’s close to the railway station, so you can walk there in about 10 minutes.

Chitanun Guest House

The Guest House is set on an enormous block of land, which must have been acquired long before the rest of the street developed. There is a reception house on the main road, and then next to that is a long driveway where all the little bungalows are. The garden is immaculately kept, with potted plants lining the road.

Garden driveway

There are different styles of bungalows depending on your budget.

Bungalows

I got a double fan room with a private bathroom. My bed was sagging in the middle but it was otherwise ok.

Bed

The room was spacious and I got by with just a fan and no A/C.

Room

The bathroom was clean and spacious. As a budget room there was no hot water unit.

Bathroom

As the room was far back on the property there was no wifi. It said on the booking site that there was no wifi in the room, but I still booked it anyway thinking I could get by. I ended up having to go to the reception area to use the public wifi there. Ahh to be a traveller that isn’t shackled to the addiction of internet.

So not a bad place to stay if you are looking for a cheap room in Kanchanaburi, and don’t mind not having wifi in your room.

Book the Chitanun Guest House or search for more hotels in Kanchanaburi.
