Guesthouse Review: Argyll Inn, Penang – Malaysia

February 11, 2019 By James Clark

Guesthouse Review: Argyll Inn, Penang - Malaysia

Guesthouse Name: Argyll Inn.
Address: 205 Jalan Argyll, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.

I stayed at the Argyll Inn in Georgetown, Penang, and I booked it online and picked it for its price and location. The Argyll Inn is located just outside of the UNESCO World Heritage zone of Georgetown, though it still feels like the old town here. It took me 7 minutes to walk to Chulia Street (one of the main streets of the old town). If you are a first-timer to Penang then I suggest staying in the UNESCO area of Georgetown, but either way it’s close enough to still be convenient.

Guesthouse Review: Argyll Inn, Penang - Malaysia

I got a single room with a private bathroom and the rate was $15.95 USD, plus the 10 MYR tax per night, collected at the hotel. $15 a night is about as low as it gets for a private room in Penang.

I booked a double room but they put me in a twin room rather than waiting around, which I was cool with. The bed was comfortable and the room was air conditioned.

The bathroom was basic but everything was in order. The sink was outside though, which is annoying how hotels do that.

There is free wifi in the hotel, and I had no problem with the connection during my stay. There is no breakfast service here, so I recommend going for an Indian breakfast nearby.

Overall this was a good place to stay if you’re just looking for a budget room in Penang.

Book the Argyll Inn online or search for more hotels in Penang.
