Apartment Review: Airbnb near Phrom Phong BTS, Bangkok – Thailand

March 7, 2016 By James Clark

Name: Airbnb Apartment – Double room in central area Bangkok
Address: Soi 41, Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand

Airbnb apartment near Phrom Phong BTS, Bangkok - Thailand

I stayed at an Airbnb-listed apartment in Bangkok, which was my sixth Airbnb I’ve stayed at in Bangkok. The apartment was $27 USD per night for three nights, plus the $10 Airbnb service fee. I booked it for its location, being near Phrom Phong BTS station. I stayed in a hotel one block away last year and I find the area convenient if I have meetings to attend during my stay.

This rental is a studio apartment in Soi 41 in an older apartment block. The room is quite large for a studio and its spartan furnishing makes it look bigger. The bed was firm but not uncomfortable, and the room has a fan and A/C.

Bedroom

The bathroom was small in relation to the room size but it was clean and tidy and well ventilated with wall vents. Cold water shower only, which is not a big deal in Bangkok.

Bathroom

The apartment complex has two buildings, and there is a swimming pool underneath the other building instead of a car park. Great idea!

The wifi was via a shared signal provided by the apartment complex for which a login code was provided. There were several signals but only one that worked, and often it would become very slow. I think providing private wifi would have been better than relying on the shared apartment wifi.

Overall this was a good place to stay, despite the wifi woes. It was a great base for me to travel around Bangkok on the BTS, or walk to the MRT at Asok.

To stay in a hotel instead search for hotels in Bangkok.

If you don’t know your Phrom Phong’s from your Khao San Road’s then consult my guide on where to stay in Bangkok.
