Hotel Review: ZEN Rooms KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia

January 30, 2020 By James Clark

Hotel Review: ZEN Rooms KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia

Guesthouse Name: ZEN Rooms KL Sentral.
Address: 270, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I stayed at ZEN Rooms KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. I booked online and picked the hotel for its location near KL Sentral. The rate was $14.14 USD, plus there is a 10 MYR ($2.37 USD) hotel tax collected upon check-in. This was for a single room with a private bathroom, so an excellent deal by KL standards.

The hotel is in the Little India part of Brickfields, less than 10 minutes walk from the main train station of KL Sentral. I transit through KL often, and if I have a short stay I usually stay around the station to save travel time. See my full guide on which areas to stay in Kuala Lumpur.

Little India

Zen Rooms is a hotel group from Southeast Asia, operating a similar model to OYO and RedDoorz. They take previously independent budget hotels and rebrand them under their own name. In this case the hotel was Hotel GDS, and it now rebranded ZEN Rooms KL Sentral. Some booking sites still show both names.

ZEN Rooms KL Sentral

After checking in I went went to my room. I had a single room without a window. I wouldn’t usually book a windowless room, but in this case I was here for 12 hours I just needed a place to sleep before heading off to the airport the next day. The room was clean and modern with a comfortable bed.

Single room

The bedside table with water and coffee making facilities. There is free wifi here, and i had a good connection in my room.

Water

A space-saving clothes peg is no substitute for a rack.

Hangars

A clean bathroom with a good hot water service.

Bathroom

There is no breakfast service here, but being in Little India you would be mad not to go out for an Indian breakfast.

Overall this was a good place to stay while transiting through KL. Book ZEN Rooms KL Sentral online or search for more hotels in Kuala Lumpur.
