Hotel Review: Woodlands Inn, Bangkok – Thailand

February 8, 2025 By James Clark

Woodland Inn

Hotel review of Woodlands Inn, a budget hotel off Charoen Krung Road in the historic riverfront area of Bangkok.

Hotel Name: Woodlands Inn.
Address: 1158/5-7, Charoen Krung Soi-32, Thanon Charoen Krung, Bangkok Riverside, Bangkok, Thailand.

I stayed at the Woodlands Inn in Bangkok. I booked online at the rate of 516.93 THB ($15.40 USD) per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Bangkok.

Woodlands Inn is off Charoen Krung Rd, in the street next the the old post office. I know this area well and I enjoy wandering around here, though I don’t usually recommend it if its your first time in Bangkok. Here is my complete guide on where to stay in Bangkok if you are wondering where to stay.

Charoen Krung Rd Soi 32

Woodlands Inn is in another alley off Charoen Krung Soi-32. It’s a small deadend alley, so it is a quiet area. The hotel is also part of an Indian restaurant of the same name. I was wondering what a hotel would be like above a restaurant, but it is a big hotel (for a hotel in an alley), so that wasn’t a problem.

The hotel is near a Little India area on the other side of Charoen Krung Rd. Walk about 100 metres and there is a bunch of great Indian restaurants in what feel like a secret Little India. There are many Indian visitors in this area who are part of the gemstone and jewellery trade. The Charoen Krung Rd and Silom area is lined with gemstone trading stores.

This is one of the reasons I don’t like staying in this area, because at night the streets are lined with closed jewellery shops, so its a bit boring. The other reason is that it’s about 20-minutes walk to either the Blue Line MRT or Silom BTS line.

The good part of this area is that you are in the historic riverfront area, and an easy walk to Talad Noi and Chinatown area.

Woodland Inn Reception

I booked a Single Room, which got me a spacious room with a double bed. I had another room before this, but the air-conditioning wasn’t working so they moved me. The room was big considering how cheap the room was. The bed was comfortable and the room the air-conditioning was working normally.

I had a good wifi signal in my room, with signals from different points. There was a decent work desk in the room. The room showed its age with the lack of power outlets in the room.

The bathroom was old but otherwise in good condition. The toilet had one of those ancient side level flushes.

I didn’t go to the Indian restaurant, but in the same block as the hotel there are two restaurants that face the street. One of them is is a good cheap Thai restaurant (I didn’t go to the other), and there is also a lively street food area in the alley at lunch. In the same alley is the entrance to the Warehouse 30 art space, and there are lots of cool things to see in the riverfront area.

The hotel clientele seemed to be a mix of Indian men on business and cheapo backpackers who also found this great deal on Agoda.

Over this was a good option if you are a repeat visitor to Bangkok and looking to mix it up by staying in a budget hotel by the river.

Book the Woodlands Inn online or search for more hotels in Bangkok.
