Hotel Review: White Sand Garden, Koh Chang – Thailand

January 1, 2020 By James Clark

Hotel Review: White Sand Garden, Koh Chang - Thailand

Hotel Name: White Sand Garden
Address: 1/1 Moo 3, White Sand Beach (Had Sai Khao), Koh Chang, Thailand.

I stayed at the White Sand Garden in Koh Chang. I booked online at the rate of 590 THB ($19.50 USD) per night, and I picked it for its location in Koh Chang.

White Sand Garden is located in the White Sand Beach area, so the hotel isn’t a garden of white sand (in case you were wondering). This is the most popular area in Koh Chang as it’s the closest beach to the ferry terminals, and it also has the nicest sand on the island. I was staying here over the new year period, so by the time I made my booking there weren’t many options left.

The hotel is about 250 metres inland, and the shared transport from the ferry dropped me off at the road and I walked the rest of the way.

Road to White Sand Garden

White Sand Garden is in a forested area away from the noise of the main street.

Reception

The rooms are set inside an old rubber plantation, and there is a lighted pathway up the hill.

Path to rooms

Behind the rooms is a forest, so you are surrounded by nature here.

Rooms

The room was spacious with windows at each end. The bed was comfortable and the fan was enough to keep the room cool.

Room

There is wifi at the hotel that is available in the rooms. There was a problem with the connection on the first night, so they gave me their office login until they could fix the signal for the rooms.

TV and desk

A little work desk with not too much clutter, and free drinking water.

Water

The bathroom was clean and spacious with a good hot water service. I could have used more space to place toiletries, as well as a towel rack (I hung my towel on the side of the door).

Bathroom

There is a basic breakfast of biscuits and bananas and coffee.

Breakfast

The owners were friendly and helpful. I needed some documents printed so they arranged to do that during their day while I was out.

Overall this turned out to be a good place to stay in Koh Chang. I didn’t mind being not on the beach in exchange for being in the trees.

Book the White Sand Garden online or search for more hotels in Koh Chang.
