Hotel Review: Meddusa Hotel, Istanbul – Turkey

November 4, 2021 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Meddusa Hotel, Istanbul - Turkey

Hotel Name: Meddusa Hotel.
Address: Alemdar Mah. Nuru Osmaniye Cad. No: 5 Sultanahmet, Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey.

I stayed at the Meddusa Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey. I booked online at the rate of €17.35 per night, and I booked it for its price and location in Istanbul.

The Meddusa Hotel is in Sultanahmet, which is the prime tourist area due to its proximity to the historic riches of Istanbul. If you’re a first-time visitor to Istanbul, or just visiting for a short stay, then this is the ideal area.

The Meddusa is a small budget hotel above a restaurant.

The building reminded me of the old bed and breakfasts of London with the old-fashioned wallpaper and furnishings.

I booked a single room with a private bathroom, and this was one of the cheapest rooms available that had a bathroom. When I book I make sure the room has a window.

I was allocated a twin room, so the extra adds a bit of extra space to put things. There is free wifi here and I had good reception in my room. I was here in early November and there wasn’t a need for air conditioning or heater at this point.

The bathroom was a bit small, but apart from that it was in good order and there was a good hot water system.

Another reason I booked this hotel is that it has a rooftop breakfast service. That is a very specific thing to book for, but there are many budget hotels in Sultanahmet that offer free breakfast on the rooftop. If you find the right hotel, you get a great view of the Bosphorus and Hagia Sophia.

The mornings were damp and cold when I was there, so it wasn’t outside weather. The restaurant area opens out onto the roof so you are eating indoors.

Overall this was a great option for a budget hotel in Istanbul. Check rates for the Meddusa Hotel, or search for more hotels in Istanbul. And here is my trip report for Istanbul.
