Hotel Review: Lodge 61 Hotel, Bangkok – Thailand

December 30, 2019 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Lodge 61 Hotel, Bangkok - Thailand

Hotel Name: Lodge 61 Hotel
Address: 1221 Sukhumvit Soi 61, Bangkok, Thailand.

I stayed at the Lodge 61 Hotel in Bangkok. This was a last minute booking as I had a change of plan. I booked it for its location near the Ekkamai Bus Station for the rate of 30.27 USD per night.

Lodge 61 B and B

Lodge 61 Hotel is a mid-range 3-star hotel located near the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 61 (thus its name). It’s a short walk to Ekkamai BTS Staion, so it’s a convenient location if you prefer to stay on Sukhumvit Road.

The hotel is open on the street like an informal restaurant, and there is a chicken and rice shop at the front that shares the space. This becomes the breakfast station in the morning as well. I had arrived around lunch time and there was a queue of people checking in, so I had lunch here. It’s a proper chicken and rice stall, and proper Thai street food prices (40 THB).

I got a double room with private bathroom. The room was very spacious with a good amount of natural light. The room had air-conditioning, and it needed to be on at all times. The bed was comfortable.

Room

A spacious and uncluttered desk with a good chair. There is free wifi here and I had no issue with the signal in my room.

The bathroom was also clean and spacious with a good hot water system.

Bathroom

The hotel is getting on in age by now, but everything was kept in immaculate order. I note its age as the old hotels almost always only have one power outlet, and not always conveniently located. Back in the old days travellers didn’t carry multiple electrical devices that needed charging. Always helpful to have a powerstrip in these situations.

My room faced Sukhumvit Road where I could see the BTS line.

The reception area also includes the dining area, and you can also just sit around here. I liked the old furnishing of the reception as it reminds me of pre-internet travel. You can tell that the building is kept clean and well maintained.

Dining tables

There is also a little cafe attached to the reception, so can have a coffee in the dining area. There is a breakfast service, but my booking didn’t include this.

Lodge 61 Sukhumvit

Overall this was a good place to stay for me as it was opposite the Ekkamai bus station where I had a morning departure.

Book the Lodge 61 Hotel online or search for more Bangkok hotels. If you need help deciding where to stay then see my guide on the best areas to stay in Bangkok.
