Hotel Review: Hotel Hong Ping, Georgetown – Malaysia

July 23, 2022 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Hotel Hong Ping, Georgetown - Malaysia

Hotel review of Hotel Hong Ping in the historic Georgetown area of Penang. Malaysia.

Hotel Name: Hotel Hong Ping.
Address: 273B Chulia Street, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.

I stayed at the Hotel Hong Ping in Georgetown, Penang. I booked online at the rate of $20.50 per night, and I booked it for its location in Georgetown. There is also a 10 MYR ($2.15 USD) per night hotel tax that is collected when you stay (this is not collected by online booking sites).

The Hotel Hong Ping is conveniently located on Chulia Street near the night market.

This is the best area to stay in Penang as you can walk to any park of historic Georgetown from here.

Hotel Hong Ping on Chulia

The hotel is on a prominent corner of Chulia Street so there are plenty of window roon.

I booked a Standard Room, which just happened to be the cheapest room when I booked. I was assigned a twin room with a single and double bed.

The bed was comfortable enough, and there was a useful bedside table with power outlets. The room had air conditioning (required in Penang!)

Hotel Hong Ping beds

The room had an uncluttered work desk with a comfortable chair to go with it. There is free wifi, and I had a strong signal in this room.

The bathroom had a good walk-in shower with an outside window, so it got outside air circulation. Everything was in clean and good condition.

My room had a view of the old rooftops of Georgetown, and I could see the Kapitan Keling Mosque.

I liked how the hotel had unique artwork in the rooms and hallways.

Overall this is a good budget hotel in Penang. I ended up staying here again as I knew what to expect. I also had some mail delivered here from Australia and the reception kept my mail for me when I arrived.

Book Hotel Hong Ping online or search for more hotels in Penang.
