Hostel Review: Hostel Tarabosh, Shkodër – Albania

Hostel Review: Hostel Tarabosh, Shkodër - Albania

Hotel Name: Hostel Tarabosh.
Address: Rruga Vilson, Shkodër, Albania.

I stayed at Hostel Tarabosh in Shkodër, Albania. I booked online at the rate of €8.50 per night, and I choose it because it was a private room in a hostel, and for its location in Shkodër.

I was unfamiliar with Shkodër, but I deduced that this hostel was near to the centre of the city. It turned out to be a good choice for location because the minivans from Montenegro (where I was coming from) stop at the street corner near this hostel.

There were no hostel signs or street numbers though, so I wasn’t sure if the pin on Google Maps was accurate. I walked by it the first time, before sticking my head inside a door and seeing a sign for the hostel. It is upstairs in an old building used for commercial and residential purposes.

The hostel has dorm rooms and private rooms with shared bathrooms. I sometimes pick these rooms in hostels as a way of meeting fellow travellers without the downside of dorms. Travelling during the pandemic though means that there are not many travellers about.

Hostel bed

My room was a simple space with a single bed.

Hostel room

This was a typically sparsely furnished private hostel room. For under 10 Euros I was happy to have a private room with wifi.

Hostel table

From my room I could see the main pedestrian shopping plaza and the mountains that surround the city.

The shared bathroom and toilets were ok, but I wonder how they would fare when the hostel is full. I always get up early for a shower when I have a shared bathroom.

Bathroom

Every hostel should have a kitchen, though I never use them.

The bus stop for Tirana is also near the Montenegro stop, so that was handy for when I left. It is just a single bus stand and not a big bus station.

Overall this was an adequate place to stay in Shkodër. This served its purpose as a cheap hostel room.

Check rates for the Hostel Tarabosh, or search for more hotels in Shkodër.
