Hotel Review: Hansa Hotel, Swakopmund – Namibia

March 25, 2015 By James Clark Leave a Comment

Hotel Name: Hansa Hotel
Address: 3 Hendrik Witbooi St, Swakopmund, Namibia.

Hansa Hotel, Swakopmund - Namibia

I stayed at the Hansa Hotel in Swakopmund, Namibia. I was hosted on behalf of the Namibia Tourism Board as part of a press trip that was visiting the filming locations for Mad Max: Fury Road.

We stayed here for three nights which our group used as a base for activities in the area, including visiting the nearby sand dunes and the Namib Desert, plus visiting Walvis Bay.

The Hansa Hotel is a 4 Star hotel and was established in 1905. It has an old world charm that would be out of place in Europe. Indeed, most of the guests that were staying here were retired Europeans (mostly German) on tour spending their children’s inheritance.

My room was spacious and I had a comfortable mattress. My room faced the street so there was lots of natural light. I had problems connecting to the wifi in my room though, so I ended up in the foyer when I needed to get emails done. Everyone else I asked said they got wifi in their room, so it might be just a few rooms that get a weak signal.

Complimentary water is always a good thing.

Free tea and coffee facilities in the room.

They have an excellent breakfast buffet here, with the usual cereals, breads, pastries, and fruits, along with cooked meals made to order.
