Hotel Review: Cititel Express Ipoh – Malaysia

February 8, 2019 By James Clark

Hotel Review: Cititel Express Ipoh - Malaysia

Hotel Name: Cititel Express Ipoh.
Address: 2 Jalan S.P Seenivasagam, Ipoh, Malaysia

I stayed at the Cititel Express Ipoh in Ipoh, Malaysia. I booked it online and picked it for its location in the Ipoh Old Town area.

Cititel Express Ipoh

The Cititel Express Ipoh is a mid-range 3-star hotel, and one of the tallest buildings in the old town area. I was checked in by friendly staff and then went to my room.

Cititel reception

Cititel Express Ipoh brand themselves as “smart, clean and simple accommodation”, and the room was exactly that. I liked the new feel to the room, and room was a well organised with the right amount of space.

Cititel room

A comfortable double bed, and there is a TV facing the bed with free Video on Demand (with more than 100 HD movies). There were no power outlets next to the bed which seemed like a big oversight for a new hotel in this age where everyone needs to charge their phones overnight.

The bathroom was clean and modern, with a good walk-in shower and enough space near the sink to place items.

Cititel bathroom

The room safe and storage area near the door. The hotel has free wifi with a voucher code, and I had no problems connecting to my smart phone and laptop at the same time.

Hotel safe

My room had a good view of the Kinta River and surrounding mountains.

River view

There is a buffet breakfast at De Pines Cafe on the ground floor. That wasn’t included in my booking so I went for local Indian food.

Overall this was a great place to stay in Ipoh. It was convenient to be in the old town, and if you are coming by train it’s about 10 minutes walk away to the train station.

Book the Cititel Express Ipoh or search for more hotels in Ipoh. Another hotel to check out is Pi Hotel.
