Hotel Review: Bay Hotel Singapore

September 2, 2015 By James Clark

Hotel Name: Bay Hotel Singapore
Address: 50 Telok Blangah Rd, Singapore

Hotel Review: Bay Hotel Singapore

This is a review of the Bay Hotel Singapore, where I stayed as a guest of the hotel.

The Bay Hotel Singapore is a four-star hotel opposite VivoCity, the gateway of Sentosa Island. The hotel is a popular alternative to staying on Sentosa as it is easy to get to from here while still being connected to the rest of Singapore. The Circle and North East Metro station (HarbourFront) is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. HarbourFront is two stops from Chinatown Station.

The Bay Hotel Singapore is also opposite the redeveloped St James Power Station, which forms part of the beginning of the dockland redevelopment plans.

For my visit I was in a double room. The room was thoughtfully laid out to make most of the space (with space coming at a premium in Singapore). The bed was super comfortable and there is a flatscreen TV on the wall facing the bed.

Double Room

There was a useful work desk facing the window which was purpose-built to fit the space.

To make the most of the space the shower and toilet is set in a glass cube. I have stayed in hotels using this system where they used plain glass, which was weird. Here at least the glass has been frosted.

Bathroom

Tea and coffee making facilities are provided.

Room Facilities

A great feature of this hotel is the free minibar. I usually never go near a minibar because they’re sometimes booby trapped with sensors that register if you have taken an item. With this minibar there is a selection of snacks, juices, soft drinks, which can be refilled during the day. It also includes two free cans of beer per day, for those who like a drink.

Behind the hotel is Mount Faber Park, which is one of the oldest parks in Singapore. There are walking paths here and also the cable car to Sentosa Island.

The swimming pool is at the back of the hotel facing the park.

And next to the pool is the fitness centre.

I had to leave early in the morning so I didn’t see the breakfast offer. There is a restaurant on the premises and a lounge bar.
